Good puzzle, tricky break-in, had to brute-force it with bifurcation

@JVA Thank you for playing and commenting. When you use the words "brute-force", it seems you feel that no level of bifurcation (looking forward at the consequences of your choices) is allowed. When choosing the pairs of numbers in a two-cell cage, bifurcation a few steps should be allowed. The result of disallowing any bifurcation reduces a puzzle to trivial, which is also frowned upon on Logic Masters Deutschland. Peace to you. -Will Power

Devil's knot :-)

@Statistica Thank you for playing. It looks like you enjoyed the puzzle. I had to look up your reference, and only found a movie of that name. Do I need to see the movie to understand the reference? -Will Power

Devil's knot, in german "Teufelsknoten" is the name of some wooden puzzles (you can google it). It stands (as a metaphor) for complicated and - at first sight - confusing puzzles.
