Halfway There

(Published on 16. November 2025, 19:33 by jwsinclair)

Halfway There, by James Sinclair

Normal sudoku rules apply.
Exactly one cell in each row, column, and box is a "halver", and halver cells contain a complete set of the digits 1-9. The value of a halver cell is equal to its digit divided by two. (All other cells have a value equal to their digit.)
Cages: the sum of the values inside each cage is equal to the small number in the top left corner, and digits cannot repeat within a cage (but values can).
Arrows: the sum of the values along an arrow is equal to the value in the connected circle.
Thermometers: values on thermometers strictly increase from the bulb.
Values in cells separated by a V sum to 5.
Values in cells separated by an X sum to 10.

I'm new to this mechanic. Is the value of a 'halver' rounded up? Or does a 'halver' nine have a value of 4.5?

--

The latter (values aren't rounded)

Some very clever steps in this puzzle. Once you get your head around to solving the clever steps the rest of the puzzle is very approachable. Lovely as usual. Thank you James.
