Like others said already, this isn't hard once you see where to start.
I started with that, but thought there where more options than I needed and looked elsewhere. And got stuck. Today I tried again and did the same thing. Untill I read the comment from m_and_m_toastie and your reply.
That put me on the right path in the end. After that first step it is really easy.
Thanks for setting this puzzle.

12:10 For me, but the puzzle has 2 solutions.
At the end I was left with R3C8, R3C9, R4C8 and R4C9 unsolved, and you can just switch them around and still have an equally valid solution.
EDIT: NVM, I totally forgot about the rotational symmetry rule. I didn't had to use it after placing the first digit in the center.

Outstanding puzzle. Like other commenters, I found this pretty difficult until I eventually worked out the averages clue, at which point everything flowed beautifully. Each rule was used wonderfully.
@m_and_m_toastie Thanks so much for commenting. Since so few have completed this in three days, I'm going to make your comment public, so people are encouraged to give it a try. Peace to you. -Will Power

very hard ... unless you understand and apply the properties of averages, especially how they interact with the sudoku grid, at which point it's almost GAS
