Liescrapers

(Eingestellt am 12. Januar 2025, 18:39 Uhr von marty_sears)

I had never fancied doing Skyscrapers before, but the recent prompt from Scojo inspired me to do this slightly different take on it.

    Rules:

  • SKYSCRAPERS: Each purple shape is a building, and its height equals the sum of the digits in any cells it occupies.
  • YELLOW SIGNS: In each 3x3 block, two buildings display a yellow sign; one accurately indicates the height of its building, the other is lying.
  • ARROWS: A white arrow indicates the number of buildings it can see in a straight line in the indicated direction. If a building further from the arrow is shorter than (or the same height as) a nearer building, then it cannot be seen, so is not counted. All arrows are truthful.
  • RIVER: Road bridges separate the river into segments whose digits have the same total.
  • Please leave a comment if you enjoy :)

Lösungscode: Row 5 from left to right

What a beautiful puzzle, both in terms of looks and logic. Thanks for sharing.

Very hard to determine where to look at any moment, but once I found the angle of attack, it made good logic

Solve Time: 71:35

I rated this 4/5 difficulty.

Excellent puzzle with a fun ruleset. This solve was very fun, but also quite difficult in my opinion!

The puzzle was really interesting & was a fun take on 'lying' clues and 'killer skyscraper' clues. The break-in by FAR was the hardest part for me, and felt between 4-5/5 difficulty - but the payoff after placing values was wonderful.

I nearly gave up after 30-40 minutes with minimal progress - where I spent that time just eliminating arrow cell candidates and figuring out how the cage sums were distributed. During that time I did make /some/ progress on the'lying' cage placements and the RSL values, but for whatever reason I was struggling to progress much during that time. Once I stumbled upon some brilliant logic I was able to place a few useful digits and determine some lying cage placements and the whole puzzle cracked open for me. I am not sure if I missed some easier logic during the break-in, but the logic that I used was really tricky and was HARD to spot/understand.

I am very glad I didn't give up early as it was totally worth it!

After I started making big progress, the puzzle became much easier and felt somewhere around 3-4* difficulty up until the end of the solve. Since I found the break-in so much more difficult, I had to rate the puzzle 4* difficulty - and I thought it felt quite hard for a 4* at that.

My favorite aspect of the puzzle was definitely the RSL (and surrounding logic), but the lying cage deductions were a close second. Thank you for setting this puzzle & sharing it!

Such incredible aesthetics as always, and the puzzle itself was full of clever and surprising steps!

I was confused by the two different background colors, whose meaning remains unexplained.

Marty: that's just aesthetic to give it more of a map kind of feel

Another classic Marty puzzle. No words needed. Hats off!

Great and beautiful (in many ways)! Thanks a lot for all your puzzles. They are more than just puzzles, and always a great joy to solve. A real work of art.

This is a worthy intermezzo between (I hope) Finkz seasons.

What a novel idea! This was a very fun puzzle, from the break-in down to disambiguating my last pair. Having the skyscraper clues internal to the puzzle grid has some fun implications. I love 2T1L variants, so this was right at home. If you're ever not sure which skyscraper is telling the truth ask it what the OTHER skyscraper would say its height is :)
