[TSL][S1T2] Three stages to adulthood
(Eingestellt am 30. Dezember 2024, 22:17 Uhr von ademjaz)
This is my entry for turn 2 of season 1 of The Skunkworks League, hosted by damasosos92. In this round, the prompt was to create a puzzle telling the story of the song The Boy by Tom Rosenthal.
Rules
Normal Sudoku rules apply
Fog of War : The grid is partially covered with fog. Correctly placed digits will clear the fog around that cell. No guessing is required.
The boy's path :
Draw a one-cell-wide path of orthogonally connected cells that obeys these rules :
- The path may not touch itself orthogonally, but may touch diagonally.
- The path acts as a German Whispers line: adjacent digits on the path have a difference of at least 5.
- The last cell on the path contains a 3.
- The path goes through 3 stages, each containing a different type of clues:
- Stage1: Hot air balloon. Here there are Houses that act as skyscrapers clues inside the grid (i.e if you imagine each digit as the height of a building, with taller building obstructing the view of shorter ones, the digit in the cell with a House tells you how many buildings you can see in the 4 orthogonal directions combined, not including itself).
- Stage2: Forest. Here there are trees on the path. A digit in such a cell must see at least one smaller digit and at least one higher digit in the up to 4 orthogonally adjacent cells.
- Stage3: Train. Here there are cells with a train symbol. Such a cell tells you how many path cells it sees in the 4 orthogonal directions combined (not including itself), with cells not on the path blocking the view.
- There are 3 clues of each type all appearing on the path, and the path must go through the 3 stages in order (i.e it cannot for example visit a cell with a tree before visiting all the cells with houses).
