A knotty introduction to Notasu

The name Notasu comes from 'Sudoku, but not as you know it'.
This is version 2 of the puzzle. Version 1 remained unsolved after circulating on the internet for two weeks. Version 2 is version 1 with extra clues.

For the records, I only picked this up again yesterday because the first 'conclusion' I learned from my perspective was not that clean, and it eventually took over a day here for me to finally realize the hidden pattern[s] behind it.
It's the kind of variant that initially, casual sudoku solvers won't even think of but it can be somewhat narrowed down using the 6x6 hint. An interesting rule set overall, but double checking everything wasn't easy either lol.
