Modular Fillomino

(Eingestellt am 16. November 2024, 03:08 Uhr von mathpesto)

Rules:

Fillomino: Divide the grid into polyominoes so that polyominoes of the same size don't share an edge. Each cell contains a number equal to its polyomino's size.

Modular Loop: Draw an orthogonal loop through the grid. The loop must not touch itself orthogonally; however, it can touch diagonally. Along the loop, any three consecutive cells must contain numbers congruent to 0 mod 3, 1 mod 3, and 2 mod 3. (In other words, one of the numbers is from the set {3, 6, 9, 12, …}, one is from {1, 4, 7, 10, …}, and one from {2, 5, 8, 11, …}.

Arrow: Numbers on cells with arrows refer to the total amount of loop cells seen (not including itself) in those directions combined.

A beautiful 4 i think, with extra star being just for all the admin necessary to complete it. It never gives you more than you can handle though.

This was a great puzzle. Difficult but more because of the volume of deductions required rather than any single one of them being horrible. That and having to keep track of all the clues and rules on a big grid. The only time I got really stuck was when I was confused about the modular sequence, a silly oversight.

How in the world did you come up with this ruleset.

How in the world did you get this to resolve.

In any case, an absolutely amazing journey. My jaw dropped like 2 mod 3 times.

I expected to fail miserably at this when I saw the CtC video's 2-hour length; definitely a case of having to be really careful, and I'm glad of answer-check, but everything flowed exceptionally smoothly. Thanks for the wonderful puzzle!

I loved this; thank you for creating such an awesome puzzle! Super fun to solve, and whilst it was really challenging, there was always a way forward with some beautiful logic along the way.

A comment on the rules - the arrow part is a bit ambiguous and might be worth clarifying to "Numbers on cells with arrows refer to the total number of loop cells seen in the indicated direction(s) combined; not including the cell with the arrow". I faffed a bit at the start because I thought it could mean, for example, 3 in each direction. Granted I haven't done many puzzles with this kind of arrow rule, so sorry if this is actually a standard rule!
