RAT RUN 14: Thermoregulation

- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- AIM OF EXPERIMENT: Finkz the rat must reach the cupcake by finding a path through the maze. The path must not visit any cell more than once, cross itself, or pass through any thick maze walls.
- As well as moving orthogonally, Finkz may move diagonally if there's a 2x2 space in which to do so, but may never pass diagonally through a round wall-spot on the corner of a cell.
- BLACKCURRANTS: Digits connected by a blackcurrant have a 1:2 ratio.
- CAGES: All cages have the same total, to be deduced. An electricity symbol indicates the cage's shock value. Finkz may not enter any cage with a shock value of 5 or higher. Cages with a shock value lower than 5 are safe to enter.
- TEST CONSTRAINT: In this experiment, dotted 3x3 box borders divide the correct path into segments. The total of each segment must be higher than the total of the previous segment on Finkz' path.

Even though I got the break-in quite quickly I still found the rest of the solve a challenge! Nonetheless, Finkz got through and is ready for the next stage!

It’s amazing how these puzzles are always more amazing !
I enjoyed this one to the point where I need to post a comment !
And this despite having to roll many false deductions at least two times, get help from the sudokuPad validation, and even a nudge from CTC for one tricky deduction with the shock cells.
It’s really cool btw to see how different paths can be taken logically to the solution. Mine and CTC’s were very different !

I must have been a funny sight at the pool for the last 3 days! Scribbling thousands of number combinations on every piece of paper I found ;-) well that's not fully true, I think the first day I was just staring at the puzzle, without placing any definite digit.
The first Heureka moment came to me while I was in the pool, drawing Finks' path in the water, to recap where she could go and where not, hahahah. Maybe @marty_sears you could make a puzzle where Finks has to swim??
For me this was one of the most difficult puzzles of all in this series! I am well aware that more experienced solvers could spot the deductions a lot faster than me. But I am proud, as I never checked the solution while solving the puzzle, so this was a very long and hard, but genuine solve.
Unfortunately holidays are over, before the next part drops, so I'll have less relaxing time to solve!

I stared a good 20 min at this puzzle thinking there is no way this could be solved and then suddenly the break-in appeared. This was arguably the most brilliant set-up of the Finkz series to date.

Tough start but once it got going it flowed smoothly and Finkz sailed to the cupcake. Thank you Marty for a wonderful season 2.

This was an absolutely beautiful puzzle. I couldn't believe it could be solvable with seemingly so little information available to start with, but once the deductions began they just kept flowing so very naturally. I'm absolutely blown away. Well done @marty_sears! Truly remarkable!

Another great entry to the series. I got stuck for a while adter placing maybe the first 10 digits or so until I noticed some tricks in the path and then it flowed smoothly.

Wonderful, as always!
This one was a bit more straightforward, it took me only 5 minutes to be 100% sure that it was unsolvable. :-P
Once I figured out the way around that, it was relatively straightforward. Took me 66 minutes (over a few sessions), according to Sudokupad.
I don't know about Finkz, but my thrill and tenacity is certainly NOT waning!

This is such a brilliant puzzle. I always think I know which my favourite of the season is going to be, but then there comes a new week with another absolute banger of a puzzle.
