RAT RUN 12: Visiting Order

- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- AIM OF EXPERIMENT: Finkz the rat must reach the cupcake by finding a path through the maze. The path must not visit any cell more than once, cross itself, or pass through any thick maze walls.
- As well as moving orthogonally, Finkz may move diagonally if there's a 2x2 space in which to do so, but may never pass diagonally through a round wall-spot on the corner of a cell.
- GRAPES: Digits separated by a green grape have a difference of at least 5.
- TEST CONSTRAINT: In this experiment, dotted box borders divide the correct path into 'index lines'; In any box, the Nth cell visited by Finkz is called 'position N'. The digit in position N always indicates which position along that segment contains the digit N. Eg: In a box, Finkz might visit the digits 35142 in that order. The first digit being a 3 indicates that the third digit is a 1, the second digit being a 5 indicates that the fifth digit is a 2, and so on.

Never solved an index line puzzle before but found them quite intuitive. This works surprisingly well as a good intro puzzle for them

Took me a while to get the break-in but when it clicked it seemed so simple! Finkz whizzed through then, apart from boxes 8 and 9 where there was a bit of head scratching!

Not knowing how to work with index lines, it took me 5 hours to find the break-in. Thereafter it flowed very nicely and I was finished after about 50minutes. Perfect start into my holidays. Probably it'll take me all week to solve the next one with 4 stars...

42:30 for me, really nice! was such a smooth solve I never felt like I got stuck for more than a few seconds, there's something about the index lines that click for me, very nice puzzle

Another amazing rat maze. It took me a while to figure out box 9. I was sure I had broken it. Stunning setting. Looking forward to the next one.

This is absolutely brilliant. I have never seen this kind of logic before. It made me think in ways I didn‘t know existed. But Finks helped me through, even in box 9, when the cupcake was in sight.

This is an absolutely magical construction. The break-in was straight enough and extremely smooth thereafter. The maze design with possible path lengths, the grapes and the all tiny bits of pencil marks so uniquely revealed the path design, it felt sublime. Thanks @marty_sears for this. Simon is going to have a blast solving it online.

Strange that on Firefox mobile both Finkz and the cupcake are huge and in the wrong spot. They take up almost all of box 1.
Edit: nevermind. Had to turn on Disable Emoji Replacement in the Sudokupad settings.

When I first read the rules, I thought this puzzle would be a boring one. I was quite wrong as this was interesting and enjoyable to solve. Like basically all of the Rat Runs. Thanks so much for season 2, Marty!
