I enjoyed this puzzle all the way through, and more or less zipped right through it. It does grow more difficult as you progress. At 25 digits out I explored a bifurcation that led to a quick solve. Maybe that's how I avoided whatever "inelegance/not-fun" was experienced by a couple other commenters.

Gotta agree with the other commenter. Really nice puzzle marred by a rather inelegant ending.

great break in, nice middle part.. the end game sucked
(maybe the white dot would've helped) it was fun for 17minutes (22 [I think] digits to completion) then 40+ minutes to put one *** digit in and 26 seconds to finish.
Yes true.. may very well be me missing something... but to me that was terrible and all the fun was washed away quite thoroughly
