Nightcap

(Eingestellt am 4. Oktober 2024, 02:17 Uhr von cristophermoore)

Normal 6x6 Sudoku rules apply: each row, column, and box must contain the digits 1-6.

Each clue is an X-sum, a sandwich clue, and a little killer. That is: it is the sum of the first X numbers it faces in its column where X is the digit it faces. It is also the sum of the digits between the 1 and the 6 in its column, and the sum of the digits along the indicated diagonal.

Feel free to turn the puzzle upside-down.

@zimmicks: sandwiches don't need to begin at the grid's edge. 236514 would be a valid sandwich + x-sum of 5 from the left

@sujoyku:
"ALSO the sum of the digits between the 1 and the 6 in its column"
Note the word "also" - it is being forced to be that in addition to an X-Sum

Mark of CTC did YouTube video but I couldn't find the author's reaction video.

@zimmicks: Why would a Sandwich clue need the column to start with a 1 or 6? That is not forced at all.

I don't understand how you can have an X-sum and a sandwich clue in the same column without breaking the puzzle.
The first digit the clue faces must either be a 1 or a 6 in order to satisfy the sandwich rule, but that cannot satisfy the X-sum rule.
Vice-versa the same problem.

Yes it's very easy but it's also really elegant and a joy to solve.

What a simple and beautiful puzzle, with, as the author pointed out, pi radians of super symmetry. In addition the digits of the solution code is so Pythagorean.
