Mod Pods (with gdc)

(Published on 26. September 2024, 15:44 by SamuPiano)

This is a collaboration with the always-amazing gdc! Many thanks to him for coming up with the idea for the variant combination and a large amount of the logic in this puzzle, as well as many helpful discussions!

This puzzle is a continuation of a series of duality split pea / line puzzles. There are many more links below to puzzles in a similar vein!

Rules:

Sudoku: Normal sudoku rules apply.
Mod-Peas: Digits on a line between two circles sum to a two digit number written using the digits in the circles. For instance, 3-346-1 could be a valid split pea line, as 3+4+6=13, which is 1 concatenated with 3.
Furthermore, not including cells with circles, every set of three consecutive cells on a line must include a digit from (147), (258) and (369).

NOTES:

1. Because cells containing circles do not have to follow the modular rule, every line is a different modular line - in other words, modular classes may repeat in less than a 3-cell span if a circle is between them.
2. No bifurcation is necessary or allowed.

We wish you joyful solving!

It was fascinating to see how the mod-3 math interacted with the split peas. Terrific puzzle, quite challenging!

Lovely puzzle! I had a slight brain-melt at some points, staring at a clue and not realizing that it already was entirely forced. :)
But there is only me to blame when attempting a hard puzzle while already being fatigued.
The modular split peas are a great idea which you executed with perfection. Thank you for setting and sharing this gem, SamuPiano and gdc!

Very nice and - for me - hard puzzle, but I really enjoyed the whole walk on the solving path. Thank you (both!) for creating and sharing this masterpiece.

It was a pleasure to create this puzzle together. I already liked the split peas form a solving perspective but setting with them gave me a whole new perspective.
