On a knife's edge

(Published on 16. September 2024, 18:31 by sujoyku)

I think this arrow/(little) killer set-up with diagonal constraint allows for some interesting interactions, but judge for yourselves. As always, your comments are much appreciated. I wish you happy solving!

- Normal sudoku rules apply, i.e. each row, column and 3x3 region has to contain the digits from 1 to 9 once each.

- Diagonals: On the main diagonals digits do not repeat.

- Arrows: Digits on an arrow sum to the digit in the circle from which the arrow emerges.

- Killer cages: Digits in a cage must sum to the clue in the top left.

- Little killer: Clues outside the grid with an arrow are Little killer clues and indicate the sum of all digits along that diagonal.

- Odd: A digit in a grey circle must be odd.

Thank you for this interesting puzzle, dear sujoyku! Uff, I admit, it was a challenge, there were a few critical points in the solving process. Even at the end, when I already thought I got it, it was again difficult to finish it. But luckily I finally succeeded. :)

Congratulations on the solve and thank you for your comment, Lenivaya_Joppa! There are definitely some tricky steps to figure out near the end. I am glad that you liked the puzzle.

Great puzzle! But, unless I missed something, this was not a 2 star puzzle for me. Fun nonetheless, thanks for sharing

Thank you for your comment, theParad0x! I am glad that you liked the puzzle. I don't think you must have missed anything. Initially, I uploaded it with 3 stars difficulty. I think it is somewhere between 2 and 3 stars.

Good fun! Couldn't spot the last bit of logic in box 2 to resolve so I had to resort to bifurcation and use the other possibility for the arrow. Curious to see the intended path for that. Nice work

**
Thank you for your comment, CanadianLeviathan! I am glad you had a fun solve. No bifurcation or guessing is required. One crucial step is the deduction mentioned by damo_89 in their hidden comment. The diagonal constraint is rather crucial in the final phase of the solve.

Lovely puzzle. Some logical points were a bit subtler than the rest, but very much within reason. Thanks!

You are much welcome, 99%Sneaky! I am glad that you liked the puzzle. I agree (to even more than 99%) with you that there are some tougher steps. I had it initially uploaded as 3 stars, probably it is somewhere inbetween.

Very nice for the most part, but I must've missed something in the end because I had to go through quite a bit of elimination to rule out potential numbers.

Would be interesting to see someone solve this.

I do have to say that the way the cages and arrows interacted was pretty neat.

Very cute enjoyable puzzle. Got stuck for a long while but once I found it, the step seemed very fair.

Thank you for your comment, Nemefish! I am glad you enjoyed the puzzle. I think the individual deductions mostly are not that difficulty but require a good amount of scanning.

Very fun solve. I would rate a 2*, but curious what the rating will be. Regardless, very nice setting!

Thank you for your comment, PinkNickels! I am glad you had a fun solve. It might be the case of a tough-ish 2 star or an easier 3 star puzzle. We will find out soon how the majority estimates it.
