This is a reupload after
ThePedallingPianist and I failed to notice his mistake in the clue placement, which is now fixed. He passes on his apologies!
Rank Up: a series by ThePedallingPianist and bellal exploring the full rank constraint within 5x5 grids...
SEE ALL PUZZLES
Sudoku: Within the main grid (inside the thick border), fill every cell with a digit from 1-5 such that digits do not repeat in a row or column.
Yin Yang: Within the thick black border, shade some cells such that all shaded cells form a single orthogonally-connected area, as do the unshaded cells, and no 2x2 area is entirely shaded or unshaded.
Modified Full Rank: A value in an external cell represents the rank of the number formed by reading the SHADED digits in that row or column from that direction, where (1) is the lowest such row or column and (20) is the highest. For example, a row with 2 shaded cells would form a 2-digit number for the purpose of its Full Rank clue. If a row/column is completely unshaded its value is 0, and it will be (jointly) rank (1).
N.B. If two ranks are tied, the value in both external cells is the lower of the two ranks being shared. For example, if the lowest four ranks are "13", "25", "25" and "31", the values in the relevant external cells would be (1), (2), (2) and (4) respectively.
For this puzzle, the
third secret of yin yang puzzles may be of use when solving.
Lösungscode: Row 2 followed by Column 3, UNSHADED cells only

Thanks rich_27, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Apologies for the incorrect checker - Sudokupad link updated.

Very fun puzzle, absolutely mind bending! The sudokupad solution check on the answer appears to be broken - I got the right answer based on both my analysis and the solution code on LMG, but answer check on sudokupad told me I was wrong (which left me quite puzzled for a bit!)
