Logica inversa (emordnilap cages)
(Published on 8. September 2024, 20:24 by AnalyticalNinja )
I recently participated in a setting challenge to compete against others at who was better at representing themselves and others. This was my attempt to create something that I felt
sujoyku might make with a little of my own flair thrown into the mix. For the record emordnilap (palindrome spelled backwards) is its own word that means "a word that reads as another word when spelled backward" and that was also a big source of inspiration for this one.
Now onto the rules!
Normal sudoku rules apply.
Emordnilap cages: ALL cages are a Killer cage when the number is read one way, and a Rellik cage when read the other. (the solver must determine which kind it is read forwards and backwards)
Killer cages: digits cannot repeat in a killer cage and must sum to the number in the corner.
Rellik cages: any combination of one or more digits CANNOT sum to the number in the corner. (i.e. a Rellik Cage with a clue of 03 cannot contain both a 1 and a 2, or a single 3)

I love Rellik logic and this feels like a nice addition to this genre

Very enjoyable. Figuring out which number is killer vs rellik turned out to be much less of a challenge than I expected but the double constraint on each cage is a super cool effect.

Thank you for this fantastic puzzle, AnalyticalNinja! I feel so honoured how much effort you put into imitating even details of my style. When watching the puzzle on stream, I wished I had come up with this idea myself. Thank you for setting and sharing this great twist on the Rellik cage idea!
