The Malefactors' Escape

(Published on 22. August 2024, 16:57 by DubiousMobius)

This was the second 9x9 sudoku I ever set. In retrospect, it might have been a little ambitious. The solve path is definitely slightly bumpy, but I think it's an unusual enough solve, with enough satisfying logic to be worth sharing here. Plus it has a sequel I would feel silly publishing without the original up and available to play.
Hope you enjoy, and thanks for playing!

Rules:

Place the digits 1-9 in each row, column, and region.

Additionally, help the 4 malefactors plan their heist by completing the 4 Factor Lines in the grid. Each Malefactor must get from their hideout to their respective getaway car in the south west of the grid (ends of the factor lines, represented by colored circles in the grid). To avoid detection, adjacent cells along their route, must be a factor/multiple of one another (identical digits count as factors).

They may move to any adjacent cell, including diagonally. Their paths may also cross diagonally. However, they may not visit any cell twice, or visit a cell visited by another malefactor. They want to plan a perfect heist, so every cell in the grid must be visited by a malefactor.
