Standard Sudoku rules apply.
SHADING: In the completed grid, cells containing numbers exactly one greater than an immediate neighbour (diagonal or orthogonal) within their box are shaded (and otherwise unshaded).
ARROWS: Arrows pointing along a diagonal show that the number in its cell repeats somewhere along the indicated diagonal. NOT all possible arrows are given, but if any arrows are given on a particular diagonal (in a particular direction) then ALL possible arrows (acting in the same direction) are given on that diagonal.

Absolutely your hardest one, I've left it aside for a deep solve and finally got it. Thank you @ATK for this hard nut.

Wow. Another great puzzle. My experience was much like Franjo, got started, thought I was on my way, then got stuck. But switching my usual approach for shading from “where can the next digit be” to “where can the previous digit be” got me going again. Thanks for a fun solve.

After some relatively easy steps I got totally stuck. For about two hours I searched for the right question. It was hard to find, but in the end I discovered it - and could solve this one. Thank you very much for creating and sharing this gem.
---Thanks for the solve and the kind comment. Judging by the small number of solves I have to conclude that the "right question" isn't as telegraphed as I imagined. I'm glad you stuck through the pain. ---ATK
