The Unity of Opposites
(Eingestellt am 19. Mai 2024, 00:45 Uhr von ViKingPrime)
PUZZLE:
RULES:
"Normal"
Schrödinger rules apply
(
i.e. place the digits 0 through 9 once each in every row, column and box;
two of the digits will have to share a Schrödinger Cell;
each row, column and box contains exactly one Schrödinger Cell).
Normal
Counting Circle and (
Anti-)
Counting Square rules apply
(
i.e. all counting cells have been revealed in the grid;
if a true Counting Circle, each circled digit counts exactly how many Counting Circles contain that digit;
if a true Counting Square, each squared digit counts exactly how many Counting Squares do NOT contain that digit;
all other clues consider the sum value of a cell).
Normal
Kropki (
consecutive) and
Kropki (
ratio),
Odd (
shaded circle) and
Even (
shaded square),
X and
V rules apply
(
the digit '0' is by definition even).
Normal
Renban (
pink),
Nabner (
gold),
Region Sum (
blue),
Parity (
red),
Tens (
violet) and
Palindrome (
grey) line rules apply
(
cells along each Tens line consist of one or more contiguous groups of cells, each of which sums to 10;
a group could consist of one cell; these groups of cells cannot overlap).
MODIFIERS:
•
Fog-of-War: The grid is partially covered in fog; placing correct digits in non-Schrödinger cells will clear the fog from the surrounding area.
•
Two Truths and a Lie: Each of the above standard clue types occurs exactly three times in the grid; for each, exactly two of the appearances of that clue are correct and the other is incorrect.
INTRODUCTION:
A follow-up to my previous Fog-of-War puzzle, "
What Lies Beyond the Fog". If you haven't yet, you should tackle that one first. That one has been described by some solvers as "the hardest Fog-of-War" puzzle ever, which I'm hoping will be supplanted by this one.
Here are some puzzles from other setters using the same constraint:
"
Two Truths and a Lie"

"
Call My Bluff"

Superb! This one has some very tricky steps, but their resolution is immensely satisfying.
Wonderfully wicked puzzle, Viking!

Very difficult if you aren't used to variant rules but very satisfying solution path with excellent logic. Especially loved the break-in. Amazing puzzle :)

This may be my favorite series not just from you but from anyone and this puzzle fits in well with that pedigree. What Lies Beyond the Fog is worthy of its praise but for anyone reading this, don’t sleep on A Deal with the Devil, which I think is a bit more tractable.

Deserving successor to the first.

Worthy follow-up to one of the most innovative puzzles I've ever solved. Not easy, but filled with fresh logic from start to finish.

Fun puzzle. first couple of steps are the trickiest bits, gets easier after that, always a known true clue to use.
