Little Miracle
I made this puzzle dedicated to my daughter which is going to turn 7 on the 16th of May, and I thought it would be interesting to create something unique with just the clues that are related to her birthday. This is what I did come up and hope you enjoy it.
Rules:
-Fill the grid with eight non-overlapping 2x4 regions oriented horizontally (i.e. 2 rows and 4 columns), such that each region contains the digits from 1 to 8 once each and no digit repeats in any row or column. Cells outside regions don't contain digits.
-Draw one loop in the grid that travels orthogonally, doesn't branch, and isn't allowed to touch itself, not even diagonally, and doesn't pass through any of the empty cells.
-Any two adjacent cells along this loop must include one extreme digit [1,2,7,8] and one medium digit [3,4,5,6].
-For each region N, the digit N must be on the loop within this region. Regions are numbered in reading order, based on the position of their top left cell, i.e. a region with its top left cell further down in the grid than another region will have the higher region number. If two regions have their top left cell in the same row, the region on the right will have the higher region number.
-Digits along marked diagonals sum to the number indicated outside the grid.
Lösungscode: Column 2 followed by column 3 (only the cells that are part of the loop).

Amazing puzzle. For such a wordy ruleset, I didn't find it too difficult to keep it all in my head. Very smooth.

Fantastic puzzle with a novel take on the Deconstruction format... and it is indeed a true miracle that this solves with the very limited information given. Very fun, and a lovely birthday gift

Amazing puzzle, a tough break in followed by tougher steps for building regions and loop. So glad I persisted!
p.s. I bet the title does not refer to the puzzle :)

That's a very pretty puzzle! I'm not sure it's quite 5 stars, but definitely no walk in the park. I really liked the box placement logic, and some emergent truths about the values on the loop. Happy birthday Little Miss Dorlir!

"Can't pass on the empty cells." Sorry, but I'm not sure what this means. Are we saying the line cannot pass *through* any empty cells?

A really nice tribute for your daughter's birthday! The opening logic was really interesting, and there were a couple of really cool (but somewhat tricky) deductions later on in the solve as well.
