Team Sum Sudoku

(Published on 7. May 2024, 19:32 by Phistomefel)

In this Sudoku, the digits from 1 to 9 have to be divided into two teams such that the number clue indicates the sum of all digits in an area of one team. Here are the rules:
  1. Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  2. Divide the digits from 1 to 9 into two teams such that every digit from 1 to 9 is in exactly one of the two teams.
  3. Thereby, the finished grid is divided into orthogonally connected areas which contain only digits from one team and are bounded by digits of the other team and/or the border of the grid. A number clue gives the sum of all the digits in such an area.
  4. Digits may repeat in such an area and the sum clues are in an arbitrary position within the area.
  5. Each area has at most one clue, but may also have none at all.
To illustrate the rules, here is an example:

Apart from the 4x4 example you can also try a 6x6 example.

The actual puzzle is also available online in Penpa Plus and in the CtC App (Many thanks, Florian Wortmann!). Have fun solving!

@Phistomefel @henrypijames
There is a trick in penpa to make it work, so that you can highlight cells outside the grid in sudokupad:

Go to "Transform" and add a row/column outside the existing grid, then add a 1-cell killer cage in the rows/columns (in this case on the left/right of the very bottom row). Those cages are invisible in sudokupad but since you have placed a "clue" in that row, it now lets you highlight it :-)

That is very good to know. Thanks a lot for the tip, Florian!

SudokuPad: https://sudokupad.app/1ugqin1ay0

FYI, the SudokuPad importer by @MarkTekfan can very reliably convert Penpa+ puzzles into SudokuPad:

Thanks, Henry! Unfortunately, your link has the same issue as mine with marktekfan's importer: it is not possible to colour the digits outside of the grid. I tried a few constellations, but haven't found something that would allow me to do get a grid in Sudoku Pad where I can colour them.
