PUZZLE:
RULES:
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
•
Kropki: White dots separate two cells containing consecutive
values; Black dots separate two cells where one value is double the other [1:2].
•
Renban (
pink): Values along a Renban line form a set of consecutive,
non-repeating values in any order.
•
Nabner (
gold): Values along a Nabner line form a set of
non-consecutive,
non-repeating values in any order (
e.g. if a cell of value 3 appears on a Nabner line, then values of 2 and 4 cannot appear).
MODIFIERS:
•
Hot/Cold: There are 9
Hot cells contained within the grid comprising a set of the digits from 1-to-9. Each row, column and box contains exactly one Hot cell. There are nine 9
Cold cells contained within the grid following the same rules as the Hot cells. A cell may have only one of these roles.
for Kropki/Renban/Nabner value(s)
Hot cells increase the value of the contained digit by 1.
Cold cells decrease the value of the contained digit by 1.
INTRODUCTION:
I was about to go with some dull, generic title and then the puzzle thumbnail tickled the back of my mind. Those who know will appreciate it, for everyone else do yourselves a favour and search up some Heritage Minutes and enjoy a little bit of Canadiana.
(
HINT - this is ViKingPrime from the future, here to give some advice so your solving experience is much more pleasant - don't necessarily think about the Hot/Cold digits that have gone into the puzzle, rather think about what's left to be put in the puzzle and where they can go... a subtle but important difference!).
Here are some puzzles from other setters using the same constraint:

Feels like I haven't seen a VKP puzzle for a while and you're coming back hitting hard. Very interesting opening logic and a fantastic challenge from start to finish,
