Explanation of joke if you are confused after placing the first digit (click on the gray area to reveal): The circles in the centers of cells also count as dots. For example, because there is a white dot in the center of r2c3, r2c2 and r2c4 differ by the digit in r2c3, and r1c3 and r3c3 differ by the digit in r2c3.

Great puzzle - loved the joke although I needed the explanation. Please simplify code ... in the meanwhile if people want to save their fingers just add last row to the end of this code: 425163613452532614146235251346XXXXXX

I am utterly baffled by this. The start doesn't seem solvable and even when I guessed my way through the puzzle to see the full layout I couldn't see how I was supposed to make progress. What are the big black and white dots? Is the prank "hey, here's this unsolvable puzzle and people can pretend they solved it and rate it 1 star to make others feel dumb?"
EDIT: typo

Great joke, but also a really interesting mechanic that would work pretty well in a larger, more difficult puzzle.
