Chaos Construction: Nonogram
I haven't been setting or solving much of anything lately, but this is a puzzle that's been in my backlog for a while and I wanted to finally publish it. The setting process was kind of a blur - I want to say this puzzle took the most time to set out of all of my puzzles. My intention for the setting process was strictly to create a puzzle whose clues were not based in arithmetic, which I've used for every single puzzle so far. I want to specifically thank
zzw for testing multiple versions of this puzzle and finding far more bypasses than I anticipated lol. Your feedback is appreciated, and I hope you enjoy the puzzle :)
Rules
Place the digits 1-9 once each in every row, column, and region. A region is an orthogonally connected group of 9 cells whose position must be determined by the solver.
Each cell is either shaded or unshaded. Clues outside the grid give the length of contiguous runs of unshaded cell in the corresponding row or column, read top to bottom or left to right. A '...' clue represents any number of runs, including none.
For each row and column, nonogram clues are either all given or none are given. In rows or columns with outside clues, region borders may only occur (but do not have to occur) at change of color.
A digit in a circle indicates the number of cells seen in all directions combined (including itself) that have the same shading
and are in the same region (i.e., vision is obstructed by either a region border or a cell with different shading). Not all circles are necessarily given.

Maybe this is just me solving a Philip Newman recently, but this seems too... easy, to get five stars? It's impressively clean as well!

Q: all directions combined = including diagonally?

Hi marcmees, circles count only orthogonal directions (similar to cave clues)

Very hard due to multiple coloring but fair throughout.

Brilliant! Easy to make mistakes, so quite hard. Beautiful logic all around. Thank you
