I noticed that I've never made a puzzle with outside clues apart from Japanese Sums. This simple X-Sums Sudoku is here to change that. Enjoy!

Rules:

Sudoku: Place the digits 1-9 exactly once in each row, column and box.

X-Sums: Numbers outside the grid indicate the sum of the first X digits from the direction of the clue, where X is the digit in the cell next to the clue.

Diagonal: Digits cannot repeat along the indicated diagonal.

The mental gymnastics needed to break into this are inspiring.

WOW and WOW again! I enjoyed this so much. I'm a relative novice compared to most people on this website and this one hit the mark between doable and challenging. I felt like I had to eek out each deduction at the beginning, and then as I got more comfortable with the logic, it just laid out. Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing.

Agree with Niverio, a 3-star opening! After the initial break-in, very straightforward path to completion. Fun solve overall.

A 3-star opening with a 1-star follow up is indeed a 2 star combination :P Lovely puzzle!
