Doggo Experiment #7

Normal sudoku rules apply.
Place a digit from 1 to 9 in each empty cell such that no digit repeats in any row, column, or 3x3 box.
In my continuing work to build up a sense of how to make just digits interact I think I've come up with some interesting steps here. It's still not super amazing as one of the steps is not as clear as I was really wanting it to be and every attempt I've made to fix that step undermines the rest of the puzzle. Rather than discarding the puzzle though, I thought the the fun steps are worth recording for posterity.
My original goal was a 1/5 difficulty but it is the latter half that I couldn't make more approachable without undermining the rest of the solve.
On the plus side I can see now that making the puzzle difficult isn't purely a matter of limiting the given digits.
