For a smaller and more approachable taste of this ruleset: Between Neighbors (6x6)
As an example, the 7 in this image satisfies the Between Neighbors constraint because it has a higher neighbor (8) and lower neighbors (134). The 6 is NOT valid because all of its neighbors are lower than 6 (2345).

This puzzle was just as excellent (and difficult) as I expected after finishing the 6x6. The min/max rule made for some very interesting logic.

Nice puzzle with a new set of rules for me. It was fun from start to finish. I liked that it wasn't too complicated to get started and that the level was about the same until the end.
