(Published on 8. November 2023, 12:00 by Crusader175)
First puzzle of my
Linked Sudokus series, exploring multi-grid puzzle. Hope you enjoy solving the puzzle!
Rules:
Normal 4x4 sudoku rules apply for each grid.
Digits may not appear in the same relative position in multiple 4x4 grids.
Friendly: A digit in a friendly cell matches at least one of the sudoku grid row number (counting top to bottom), column number (counting left to right), or box number (counting in reading order).
Friendly (Min): There are exactly 6 friendly cells in the top left grid. Additionally, friendly cells MAY NOT touch diagonally (orthogonally is allowed).
Friendly (Max): There are exactly 12 friendly cells in the top right grid.
Four Pins: For each number from 1-4, there must be at least one set of three identical digits in a diagonal line of adjacent cells somewhere in the bottom left grid.
There are no additional rules in the bottom right grid.

It took me a little while to wrap my head around max-ing/min-ing the number of friendly cells, but I've been wondering about 3D-oku for a while; this is SUCH a lovely implementation of it!

A little hard to work my head around the friendly cell restriction. Nice puzzle overall. Rules could use a bit of clarifying whether the diagonal restriction only applies to box 1 or to all friendly cells.
Reply: Thanks for solving! I'm not sure. I only write that rules for grid 1, that should be clear enough no?
