Parity Islands

Rules:
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Orthogonally connected cells of the same parity (odd vs. even) are parity islands. A digit in a circle indicates the size of the island that cell is in.

this is absolutely top ten for the year puzzle for me. not insanely tough, but a lot of fun logic, and really satisfying learning curve and finish.

Excellent puzzle, thank you very much! I am glad I didn't give up mid-solve :). The 6x6 example was also very useful to get into the right mindset when things got difficult.
