Minmax Mosaic

(Published on 26. October 2023, 22:02 by sujoyku)

This is not a usual killer sudoku. All cages are minmax killer cages, i.e. the clue indicates the sum of the smallest and the largest of the contained digits. (The digits between the minimum and the maximum do not matter for the clue.) Many thanks go to CaptZebraCakes for testing the puzzle. In my opinion, the difficulty should be around 3/5. Please feel free to write in the comments how you like the puzzle. I wish you happy solving!

- Normal sudoku rules apply.

- Minmax killer cages: All cages are minmax killer cages. Digits in a minmax killer cage do not repeat. The clue in the top left indicates the sum of the smallest and the largest digit that are contained in the cage.

Example: A cage containing the digits 1, 3, 6 and 8 would have the minmax killer clue 9=1+8.

- Diagonals: On the main diagonals digits do not repeat.

Thank you for this nice puzzle, dear sujoyku! In the beginning I thought that it was easy, but in the middle I had some trouble to continue. But finally I cracked it! :)

Thank you for your kind comment, Lenivaya_Joppa! The beginning is meant to be easier (so that the solver can first get into the new rule set), but after that the puzzle becomes tougher. Mark has solved this puzzle in a CTC video and he seemed to have a similar experience than you had. Anyway, I am glad that you liked the puzzle.
Kind regards, sujoyku

Nice puzzle! Some tricky (at least for me this morning) scanning, but the logic is always clean once you find it.

**
Thank you for commenting, Piatato! I very much agree with your impression: It really takes some scanning to find the next step at various points of the solve although (most parts of) the logic are not too complex. I am glad that you enjoyed the solve and found the logic to be clean.
Kind regards, sujoyku
