Beginner Series, RC indexing (159)

(Eingestellt am 22. Oktober 2023, 02:51 Uhr von SimplePurpleFrog)

This puzzle is part of the Beginner Series: Also check the Easy Doubles Series: Rules:
(visual examples given at the end of this page, before the comments)

Each row, column and 2x2 box contains the digits 1 to 4 once each.

RC indexing, similar to 159 rules of 9x9 sudoku, extended to rows and columns:
If a cell containing an "R" with digit "d" is in column "c", then, in the same row, digit "c" must be in column "d".
If a cell containing a "C" with digit "d" is in row "r", then, in the same column, digit "r" must be in row "d".

You can play Beginner Series, RC indexing (159) on f-puzzles or CtC.

Alternative rules some might prefer (exactly the same puzzle):

Each row, column and 2x2 box contains the digits 1 to 4 once each.

RC indexing, similar to 159 rules of 9x9 sudoku, extended to rows and columns:
The digit in a Red cell in column "c" is the column where digit "c" must be placed on that row.
The digit in a Blue cell in row "r" is the row where digit "r" must be placed on that column.

You can play Beginner Series, RC indexing (159) on f-puzzles or CtC.

Example rules for row-indexing (R, red), and column-indexing (C. blue).

The row example shows all possible combinations on row 3, it could be shifted to any row, with the same combinations, in the same columns.

The column example shows all possible combinations on column 2, it could be shifted to any column, with the same combinations, in the same rows.

Lösungscode: All digits in row 3 from left to right

Understanding the rules was the hardest part of the puzzle.

Thanks, I enjoyed that. If you'd like a suggestion to make it more accessible to beginners, an illustrated example image would probably help make the rule clearer.

I understood it because I've done enough 159 puzzles to recognise that the R clues were standard 159 indexes, and the C clues were the same thing, but flipped 90 degrees.

SPF> Thanks & good idea, done :-)

Kann man das noch komplizierter ausdruecken?

SPF> Sorry to disappoint, I truly did my best. I welcome any suggestion that may improve readability and enjoyment.
