Black Mirror

(Published on 25. September 2023, 14:09 by steelwool)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

The positive diagonal line has all the digits 1 to 9 once only.

Cages appear in pairs, each cage being mirrored by the positive diagonal to its pair.
A cage on one side of the diagonal has a sum that is X*Y, where X and Y are to be determined, and its mirror will be X*Z (Z not equal to Y). The X differs for each cage pair. All the cage sums are different. X,Y,Z each greater than 1 and less than or equal to 9.
Digits cannot repeat in a cage.

White dots reflect in the black mirror as black dots, and all the white dots reflecting as black are shown.
White dots join two cells with a difference of one. Black dots join two cells, one twice the other.

The coloured cells and the diagonal are the only cells not in a cage.

Or solve at CTC (thanks SirWoezel for the link, and finding that I can't type solution codes, so sorry). NB Please note, the mirror dots at R6C4 were missing originally.

Solution code: Enter the digits of Row 1 followed by the digits of Column 7

Can you clarify whether Y and Z may or may not be the same for every cage? Assuming they are not for now.

It looks realy intriguing, but I have some questions regarding the ruleset. Are we allowed to conclude, that digits cannot repeat within a cage? And do the colours serve a specific purpose?
-- Thanks for the question, good points! I updated the ruleset to clarify.

I would have liked to give it a try but not on F-Puzzles.
CTC would be great.
-- Hi, can you tell me how I can set this up, or if you can do this and provide a link I will add it to the instructions. I use an old Chromebook, I don't know if I can do this. Help would be gratefully received.
@Briks the CTC has kindly been provided now.
