Ha?a Me?dj?lu?! (Meidjuluk/Cipher)

(Eingestellt am 25. August 2023, 14:45 Uhr von dumediat)

This is a puzzle that I created for glum_hippo's birthday, which they suggested I share with all of you. This uses the wonderful Meidjuluk constraint that glum_hippo created. I might suggest starting with their Meidjuluk I (N=17) puzzle (which includes an example) if you have not solved one of these before.

Ratings, comments, and feedback are much appreciated! Please feel free to reach out to me on Discord if you have any comments or questions. Please also feel free to try my other puzzles here.

Rules:

  • Meidjuluk (N=12): Divide the grid into N regions, one of each size 1 to N. Blackened cells are disregarded. A region may not contain repeated numbers (including letters representing those numbers), and it may only contain factors of its size (eg, a region of size 6 may contain any combination of 1,2,3, and 6, including none of them). One region border segment is given.
  • Each letter in the grid is a cipher, and represents the same number (1 to 12) each time it appears. No two letters may represent the same number. The inequalities given on the bottom-right indicate the relative values of L-U and I-M.

Penpa+: https://tinyurl.com/23m6pyfz

Note: For answer check to work, do not outline the outer edge of the grid or the blackened cells.

Lösungscode: For each column, give the length of the longest continuous stretch of cells belonging to the same region.

I loved it! I'm eating up every Meidjuluk puzzle, it's such a great ruleset. Enjoyed the deciphering part of this puzzle a lot. (I'd vote to keep the ciphering and the inequalities, personally - keeping track of things made it extra fun.)

You should give the inequalities in the rules, not only in penpa.
The link could be dead in 10 years and no one could solve the puzzle anymore.

Naming gets more and more terrible, but I love these puzzles :) Thank you for the puzzle! My vote is on ignoring the inequalities and mentioning that unciphering is not part of the solution. This way you do not give information about the MI and LU letters and the solution is unique.

Clarified the meaning of the inequality statements within the rules and updated the link accordingly.

In penpa there are two inequalities given, but I don't find them in the rules.
>>dumediat: I just updated the rules and the link, these rules are stated now.
