PUZZLE:
RULES:
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
•
Killer: The
value of digits within a cage must sum to the number in the top-left corner.
MODIFIER:
•
Nosferatu: There are 9
Nosferatu cells contained within the grid comprised of a set of the digits from 1-to-9. Each row, column and box contains exactly one Nosferatu cell. There are nine 9
Prey cells contained within the grid following the same rules as the Nosferatu cells. A cell may have only one of these roles.
for Killer values
Prey cells contribute
no value (0).
Nosferatu cells contribute the
sum of the digits in the Nosferatu cell and Prey cell within the same box.
•
Stadiometer: From left-to-right, the digit of each Nosferatu cell indicates the row location of the Nosferatu cell in the next column (e.g. if there is a Nosferatu cell at R1C1 that is an 8, there is a Nosferatu cell at R8C2); similarly, each Prey cell indicates the row location of the Prey cell in the next column.
INTRODUCTION:
This is going to seem to daunting at first blush, however if you have any experience whatsoever with either Nosferatu or Stadiometer puzzles, you'll likely find the flow remarkably smooth.
I've been enjoying setting Stadiometer puzzles (and solvers seem to enjoy a simpler take on indexing) but they've tended to be somewhat straightforward; having two sets of special cells helps add a bit of depth to the logic.
I truly hope you enjoy.
Here are the other entries in the "
Stadiometer" series, for those interested:
"
Whose Doubler Is It Anyway? (Doubler/Killer)"
"
Rolling Hills (Doubler/Killer)"
An example puzzle will follow to better illustrate the rules.
Have fun!

Nice puzzle! The Vampire and Killer rules work well together in the early game, but the Stadiometer rule in the late game is too strong, which leads to a decline in some logical thinking.

Nice combination. I always struggle with colors in vampire/prey puzzles but this one was alright.

Not so bad yeah? The additional constraint really helps smooth out the solve path. -- VKP
