Unlucky 4 Sum

(Published on 24. April 2023, 10:55 by marty_sears)

Here's a not-too-hard puzzle I made a while back, hope you enjoy. Please leave a comment if you do :)

Rules:
  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Each orange square marks the largest digit on a tetromino whose digits are all different and sum to 13. None of these tetrominoes touch eachother, not even diagonally. (A tetromino is a set of four cells joined together orthogonally, like a Tetris piece.)
  • Digits connected by a small white dot are consecutive. Not all possible white dots are given.
  • Cells with a grey circle contain an odd digit.

Great fun to solve with a nice balance of different types of clue.
Maybe I was lucky, but a little too easy getting started to be worth three stars.

Flood filling regions at the beginning was nice. Got more difficult in the 2nd half.

Really nice puzzle! I love how the puzzle spreads out challenges throughout the solve.

Love this kind of "construct a region" puzzle! Personally, two stars of difficulty for me.

Really liked that! Novel ruleset that's interesting and not *too* complicated, and very well-executed.
