Scanning all the possibilities took some time but it was fun to discover how very restrictive these well placed clues turned out. Thanks!

Thanks for the solve and feedback. The grid is actually restricted in certain areas more than others, but it's fun to discover that when working through a new constraint (and this is the intro puzzle). But I do agree, placement and cage totals make all the difference when setting.

I really like the ruleset and how the cages interact. I did get quite stuck in the middle though, after the first sequence flowed quite well. It took me quite a lot of scanning and trials to get going again. Looking forward to more puzzles!

Glad you enjoyed the puzzle and ruleset. But I do have another puzzle with this remote sums in the works, so there is at least one more I'm releasing in the near future.

Very nice puzzle, but I think that this constraint can require (as @Paquet Voleur said) a lot of scanning, and some repeating deductions to eliminate possibilities from one cell, even though it's visible that you put a lot of effort in trying to make these deductions as varied/interesting as possible, so thanks for setting this.

You're very welcome, and yes this puzzle went through several layouts and various changes. Thanks for the honest and detailed feedback, but I do agree with you on the consequence of scanning for this type of constraint. I tried to make the cages interact with each other in a fun way, but I'm still trying to push this to its limits, so I'll do my best to keep the puzzles interesting.

I really liked the constraint and I believe more can certainly be done with it. Difficulty-wise, this puzzle required a lot of scanning for me. Thanks for the novelty!

Thanks for the solve and the candid feedback. With this sort of constraint, I would expect some level of scanning to be required, but I feel like ("hope" may be a better word here) it is fun/interesting despite having to scan a bit..

Changed the name of the constraint.
Was : Cage Indexers - The digit in a cage specifies how many cells away, in its row or column, the other digit is located, and the sum of the two digits is equal to the number in the top left corner of the cage.

I messed up my first time around and got to a dead end. Then I started again and was more familiar with the ruleset, and it unfolded quite well.
Thanks.

It is a bit easier to make mistakes with unfamiliar constraints/rulesets, so I wouldn't worry much there. I do appreciate you persevering and taking the time to give me your thoughts on this constraint idea.

Great puzzle, interesting variation!

Thanks for taking the time to give this a spin and for the feedback.

That's awesome, glad you enjoyed it!

To see if I understand: suppose I put a 3 in R4C6, as that cell has clue 11, I move up/down/left OR right 3 squares and should find 8, which sums with my 3 to make the 11. Therefore there would be an 8 in at least one of R1C6, R4C3, R4C9 or R7C6. Is this the logic?

That is exactly how the constraint works.
