Here is another addition to my "single constraint" 11x11 deconstruction grid serie. Previous episodes include dots, german whispers, position sums and thermos. This time we'll be counting cells in regions !
Rules :
- Normal sudoku deconstruction apply : Fill the grid with nine non-overlapping 3x3 square regions, such that each region contains the digits 1-9 once each and no digit repeats in any row or column. Cells outside regions do not contain digits.
- Arrow clues : if a cell with one or more arrows is in a region, its digit is equal to the total number of digits that appear in the grid in the indicated directions combined (excluding itself).
The puzzle :
Difficulty should be around 2-3/5, depending if you are familiar with deconstruction and irregular sudoku or not. Note : this puzzle is solvable without using the "leftover" rule, I made sure of that, but you may use it in your own solve of course.
Enjoy ! And consider leaving a comment if you appreciate the puzzle !
You can check out my other puzzles here if you liked this one.
Lösungscode: Row 2 of the grid, X for empty cells.

Very nice and fairly miraculous too! I almost expected to be unable to resolve everything, but then it all unfolded very neatly. :)

The solution escapes me as I keep running into duplicate digits. The break-in took a while to find, but it's a nice logic how these arrows place the cages. (Which I might also be messing up somewhere along the way even though all the arrows work).
Edit: 5th time's the charm, finally made it without messing up. Irregular sudoku moment

The breakin is brilliant, after that everything went smoothly. That is, if I'm not so bad at scanning haha, great puzzle!
---
@OldCaptainWZJ : This ruleset did not have much potential besides the break-in, as you noticed, so I made sure the scanning part went as smoothly as possible after that. Glad you enjoyed !

Clever ruleset, very cool break-in :)

@mathpesto : Thanks, glad you liked this opening too, I had fun finding it. I think I found a cool way to count cells out too. To be continued... :)

A lot of puzzles I skip because I'm too lazy to spend time learning a lot of rules at once. But when I see one of your puzzles I'm more inclined to spend some time learning about something I might have walked away from otherwise. These arrow clues truly aren't as bad as they have seemed to me in the past. So a double merci for this nice deconstruction puzzle and getting me into the realm of arrow clues! (I hope you get better soon as well)
---
@Paquet Voleur : It is true that some rulesets can scare off a lot of potential solvers for some puzzles, but that's also the beauty of setting that allows you to create the wackiest rules and make fun puzzles out of them. The only limit is the imagination... So I'm glad I make you broaden your solving horizon with my puzzles.
