Assume the Position
(Published on 2. March 2023, 20:45 by jwsinclair)
Normal sudoku rules apply.
For each digit N, the position of N in box N is equal to the position of N in row N plus the position of N in column N (e.g. if the 8 in row eight is in r8c3 and the 8 in column eight is in r4c8, then the 8 in box eight would be in the 7th position (3+4), which is r9c4).
Digits in cells with a shaded square must be even.
Digits in cells with a shaded circle must be odd.
Digits in cells separated by a black dot have a 1:2 ratio.

Giving this the 159 tag because (as far as I can tell) there's not a more general tag for indexing. If you came here expecting a 159 puzzle, sorry! But a lot of the logic is pretty similar. Anyway, if you or someone you know might enjoy a weekly set of puzzles that are pretty approachable by LMD standards (much more so than this one!), check out
Artisanal Sudoku. Primarily killer sudokus, often in combination with other rulesets.

Sticking to the rules was very hard in this. Mind was always playing tricks between box/row/column numbers.

An amusing concept and a wonderful execution.

Haha, that's a pretty succinct description of what I like to aim for. Thanks!
