Owl (Numbered rooms+Parity lines Sudoku)

(Published on 27. January 2023, 17:56 by Qodec)

This is not Stingray (Even), I'm afraid that it's not a good enough fit for LMD. I apologize if you were waiting for it. I've created a replacement which you see here below, which builds upon the logic in Stingray (Odd), and hope it makes up for it.

  • Normal sudoku rules apply: Each row, column, and region indicated by thick borders in the grid must contain the digits 1 to 9 once each.
  • Numbered rooms: Clues outside the grid indicate the digit which has to be placed in the Nth cell in the corresponding direction, where N is the digit placed in the first cell in that direction. Example: if r9c9 is a 2, then because of the 1 clue the second cell counting from the south to the north in column 9, r8c9, is a 1.
  • Parity lines: Adjacent digits along each line must have opposite parity, i.e. one of them must be even, the other odd.

You can play this puzzle online using:

Solution code: Row 8. I.e. the 9 digits in row 8 from left to right, for example: 123456789

Lots of complex logic in this one. I got lost a couple times, but I found my way home eventually :D

Sorry if I'm missing something, but in your example.. "..because of the 6 clue.." what 6 clue are you talking about?

- Apologies for overlooking that. I've fixed the example. Thanks for letting me know!

I might have nightmares for weeks about that cute looking, devastatingly evil owl. I mean, it flowed really well once the gates opened, but damn ...

Absolutely stunning setting! The deductions absolutely murdered my brain, in the good way.
