Intro

For this Hybrid Star Battle Series I will be sharing a new puzzle each week combining Star Battle with another puzzle genre. This week's genre is Chocolate Banana, a fun name for a very fun genre. This shading reminds me fondly of Nurikabe Star Battle, but here it's not clear from the start just how many shaded regions there are.

Rules

Standard Chocolate Banana and nearly standard Star Battle rules apply.

• Chocolate Banana: Shade some cells so that all areas of orthogonally connected shaded cells are rectangular and all areas of orthogonally connected unshaded cells are not rectangular. A clue represents the size of its group of shaded/unshaded cells.
• Star Battle: Place stars into some unshaded cells such that each row, column, and unshaded area contain exactly 2 stars (1 star in the 7x7 example). Stars may not touch one another, not even diagonally.
• Special note: In this ruleset (unlike some others in the series), it is possible that stars may be placed atop of number clues.
