Double Rank

(Eingestellt am 5. November 2022, 17:39 Uhr von Andrewsarchus)

Rules:
  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Doublers: Every row, column, and box contains exactly one doubler cell, and no two doubler cells contain the same digit. The doubled cell has twice the value of its digit, which affects both clues inside and outside of the grid.
  • Full Rank: each outside clue is the rank (in ascending order) of the 9 or 10 digit number formed by reading the digits in the row/col from that side of the grid. Doublers double the digit contained in their cell, adding an additional digit if the doubled value is a two digit number. For example, the sequence 5384... with a doubler on 8 becomes 53164... turning it into a 10 digit number.
  • Kropku Pairs:
    • White dots separate consecutive values.
    • Black dots separate values in a 2:1 ratio.
    • Not all dots are given.

Fun logic and friendlier than I expected!

Very mind bending puzzle, but in a good way. Even after figuring out the key ideas, the solving process was still pretty tricky.

TIL: 1 on a doubler equals 2 and not 1.. *facepalm*
That aside, very nice puzzle!

I need clarification on a few things. What is the order of rank? Does 1 represent the highest or lowest number? Also, when read from right to left or down to up, do doublers have their values reversed? ie, from the right does doubled 8 count as 16 or 61?

Hi, the rank of 1 corresponds to the lowest number. The order of the digits is always in reading order, so a doubled 8 will read as '16' in both directions, so the example of 5384... when read from the other side of the grid, is read as ...41635 - hope that helps, but let me know if further clarification is needed --Andrewsarchus
