Entropic Tree

(Published on 12. October 2022, 17:48 by Dathan)

This is my third puzzle, Entropic Tree. It should be a quite straightforward and easy one!

Rules:

- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Kropki: Digits seperated by a white dot must be consecutive.
- Thermo: Digits on a thermometer must increase from the bulb end.
- Entropic tree: The line is an entropic tree. R9C5 is the root cell of this tree. Any set of three sequential cells along the entropic tree, moving away from the root cell, must contain a low digit (1-3), a middle digit (4-6), and a high digit (7-9).

Please note that when the tree branches, into two for example, both branches continue the entropic pattern in the same way. That means the Nth cell on both branches contain a digit from the same group.

Solve it on f-puzzles | Solve it on CTC (Includes solution)

Solution code: Row 4 and row 6 from left to right (No spaces)

My fastest solve so far :D Yay! (I'm still quite new to these puzzles) somehow i got 7s and 8s mixed up along the way and didnt get the correct solution at first but just needed to flip them around and it was correct.

Thank you. Very nice for only your third puzzle. I hope you enjoy making them as much as we do solving them.

Thanks chain.reader and yeah I know!

Nice!
PS. for future referense: solution code includes x number of spaces where x is the last digit of Pi.

(Yes that's a joke, any sane website filter for text-inputs like this one purges non needed stuff, ie. here: whitespace.)

This is a very approachable puzzle! I loved it! I also thought that I had broken the puzzle, but it does indeed have a unique solution.

Excellent puzzle. I thought I had broken it near the end, but then saw a clue and finished it :-) Thank you for sharing it.

Charming puzzle. For one moment I thought I'd got stuck on a deadly pattern but very nice last minute reprieve.

Thanks for the puzzle!

Entropy is a cool ruleset and I feel this is a great example to introduce people to it. I had lots of for solving this.

Such an aesthetically pleasing puzzle with the tree and little ornaments hanging from it, I almost didn't want to solve it! (But I did, and it was quite fun.)

Great puzzle, thanks! Lovely deductions throughout :)

Thanks asp1310! But I don't think that's correct. If you start with R7C4 as the root cell for example, on the main 'trunk' in column 5, R4C5 and R6C5 would be in the same group (2 cells apart), but if you start at the actual root cell, cells on the line in column 5 that are in the same group are 3 cells apart.

So at least starting on one of the branches leads to different patterns. Anywhere on the main trunk is probably fine yeah. :)

Great puzzle! But just to note, you do not need to start at the bottom - any square can be the starting square and the branching entropy pattern would still get the same result (though I do understand it being thematic here).

My first puzzle on this site, liked how intuitive it was to get started :)

on 12. October 2022, 21:18 by Dathan
Thanks sujoyku! :) I messed that up a bit too while testing haha.

on 12. October 2022, 21:14 by sujoyku
For me the hard part was not to mess up the entropy levels at the branching. The break-in felt very intuitive and the solve was quite enjoyable. Thank you for the nice puzzle, Dathan!
