159 mit schrägen XVs

(Published on 31. August 2022, 22:49 by glum_hippo)

The puzzle idea was unknowingly inspired by a challenge from PjotrV.

Normal sudoku and 159 rules apply, i.e.: digits in column 1 indicate the position of the digit 1 in the respective row. Digits in column 5 indicate the position of the digit 5 in the respective row. Digits in column 9 indicate the position of the digit 9 in the respective row.

Cells separated by an X sum to 10. Not all X's are necessarily given.

Along a clued diagonal, all (diagonally) neighboring pairs of digits that sum to 5 (V) or 10 (X) are indicated, in the order that they appear. For unclued diagonals, pairs of digits summing to 5 or 10 may or may not exist.

It took a while to notice the right way to think about, but is very smooth and elegant once you realize what needs to be done!

-- your solve was fun to watch, very well done! Always a treat.
