Kitten's Got Claws (5x5 challenge)
(Eingestellt am 15. Juli 2022, 20:26 Uhr von Samish)
Don't judge by its small size, this cute puzzle may scratch !
This is the first puzzle of a trilogy I made around common themes :
Each puzzle inspired the following, which includes each time one additional type of constraint. You can solve them in order (the difficulty goes increasing so it's the easiest way, as each puzzle gives hints for the next one), or start with the hardest to give it the fairest fight, or just with the one that inspires you the most ! :-)
You can also check out my other puzzles
here. Comments and ratings are very much appreciated, thank you !
Rules :
- Normal irregular sudoku rules apply : place 1-5 in each row, column, region.
- Digits along a thermometer must increase from the bulb.
Additionally, note that this puzzle does not require bifurcation or guessing of any kind, and the challenge is to solve it following a purely logical path (originally estimated 4/5 difficulty that way).
I've included hints and explanations of my path in white text below the image. Highlight it to read !

Hint 1 :
Use set theory, in a similar way to the phistomephel ring demonstration.
Step 1 :
You should be able to find an equivalence between 2 sets constrained by the corner thermos to find the 3 first digits.
Hint 2 :
Where can the 5 go in column 3 ? Where can the 2 go in row 3 ?
Step 2 :
This leads to rule out 4>5 from being the top left thermo and 2>3 from being the bottom right thermo.
Hint 3 :
Use colours to highlight correspondance between some cells of the grid. How can it help find which thermo is which ?
Step 3 :
It helps deduce r1c1 and r2c4 can't be the same digit as they see all colours together. Same applies to r1c5 and r4c4. Therefore, r2c4 is forced...
Hope it helps you enjoy this small challenge !
Lösungscode: Enter row 1 then column 5 (10 digits no space)

Wow! With a five by five grid and five very short thermos, you have managed to create a stunning puzzle with several beautiful logical ideas. Very well done! :D

Thank you very much ! It means a lot coming from you :-) To be fair I must say I felt lucky to find this one. However it inspired me for the two others that I'm also very happy with, and that required a bit more work :D

Very enjoyable! Slightly more difficult than 2 I'd say

Thank you very much ! The difficulty rating is decidedly an object of debate amongst its solvers.

Difficulty=2.5/5

Well I guess it's a matter of one's definition of a "purely" logical path, but there seem to be a consensus for 4/5. Good job if you found it easily though !
