Wack

(Published on 22. May 2022, 16:34 by the_cogito)

As part of zetamath's celebration for reaching 1000 subscribers on youtube, I made this puzzle as an homage to his puzzle Frak.

Setting this puzzle was incredibly challenging, but I'm happy with how it came out :)

Rules:
- Contained within the grid are nine non-overlapping 3x3 square regions, which must be located. Each region contains the digits 1 to 9 once each, such that no digit repeats in any row or column. Cells outside regions do not contain digits.
- Blue lines are region sum lines. For every region a region sum line passes through, the digits along that line within that respective region must have the same sum. If a region sum line passes through the same region multiple times separately, each pass-through is treated separately.
- Cells outside any regions do not contain digits and therefore don't contribute towards any region sums, even if they are on a line.
- Circled cells indicate the number of cells from their respective region that that particular region sum line passes through. For example, if r9c9 were 5, then its region would need to extend to either r7c11 or r11c7 in order to contain 5 cells on that line. All circled cells must contain a digit.

For some reason the old puzzle link stopped working. Fixed this.

Hacked-a-wack !
Very nice and quite an easy solve for a puzzle that may look difficult at first glance. And definitely a lot easier than Frak !

I found it only slightly easier than Frack itself.
Great puzzle and a nice way to pay homage to zetamath's puzzle. Thanks for sharing it with us.
