Hijacked butterfly

Recently I watched the solve of 'The Butterfly effect' by Abed Hawila and Mr.Menace featured on CTC. My own attempt did not go so well but I saw some ihmo nice logic with a different rule set. Some time later and with adding some disambiguation a new puzzle was born, the Hijacked Butterfly. Despite the name the original setters have green lit my adaptation.
Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply
The lines are now renban lines, digits on a line have to form a consecutive range but may appear in any order
XV rules apply: digits in cells separated by a V must sum to 5, digits in cells separated by an X must sum to 10
The puzzle has two modes:
normal, the XV clues can be used throughout the solve. Difficulty 1 or 2
hard, the XV clues can only be used for final disambiguation. Difficulty 3+?
Normal mode was tested on CTC discord but hard mode was not confirmed
Feedback welcome, things you liked/didn't like, difficulty estimate and in particular if you can confirm hard mode

Very nice puzzle.
One issue, for future refference: blue lines make blue pencilmarks impossible to read for many people without perfect vission.
Colours that don't blend with blue are better for this reason, ie. green and gray are far better than blue and purple coloured lines.
