Normal sudoku rules apply. If the digits in the cells marked by grey squares were given the sudoku would be solvable, and the first determined digit of the solution would be any digit less than seven and placed in a cell marked by a grey circle.

I have found a solution that is not accepted as the solution code - the puzzle seems not to be unique.
(The sudoku created by my arrangement of givens is unique, the first digit found is a naked single, the next digit found is a hidden single that is only revealed by the naked single, and subsequent digits continue to play off what was previously found.)
