Imagine you are trying to guess a 5-digit number. You get five guesses, but only the first three are shown. Your first guess goes in the five shaded cells in row 1; your second guess goes in the shaded cells in row 5; your third in row 9.
Now - if you guess a correct digit, in its correct location in the 5-digit number, the box is shaded green. If you guess a correct digit, but in the wrong location in the 5-digit number, the box is shaded yellow. If you guess a digit which does not appear at all in the 5-digit number, the box is shaded grey.
In addition, normal sudoku rules apply. Digits in a cage must sum to the little number in the upper left, and may not repeat in the cage. I think this puzzle is 2 stars out of 5 for difficulty. As always, comments welcome! (Read on if you would like a couple of general hints (sort of spoilers)).
Hint 1 (highlight to read):
If a digit appears anywhere in green or yellow, then it can never appear in grey anywhere.
Hint 2 (highlight to read):
If a digit appears anywhere in grey, it can never appear anywhere in green or yellow.

Thanks for the puzzle, it was fun. I think it would have been nice if finding the correct 5 digit number was a part of it (say, if it was in the solution code).
** Good note - I'll think of this if I set another...
