Standard sudoku rules applies. Fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 9 so each digit occurs exactly once in every row, column and 3x3 box.
Every digit inside the grid is a skyscraper, the height of which is defined by the value of the digit.
9 is a pagoda, a building which has a stick out roof for each floor. For those who don’t know a pagoda looks like, think of it as a 9 layer cake. Each layer is smaller than the lower layer.
Clues outside shows the number of roofs one can see from that direction.
Today is the Great Cold of the 24 traditional Chinese solar term. I was thinking how to froze 9 into something else, like an ice-cream. But mainly the idea of making 9 nine seeable roofs. In the end, the pagoda prevails. But I lose the weather aspect of the idea. But, it did snow today, it could become the reason why pagoda’s roof looks like normal roof.
Another interesting fact. The height of pagoda usually comes in 7, as what the Buddhism believes. Some do comes in 9, we love our 9s. When I look for the English version for different pagodas, the result is too professional to be made into rules. However, if you do have a better word for a building with stick out roof for each floor or a better interpretation for the rule, leave it in the comment. I might add it later or save it for future naming. Naming is hard these days. Fitting name is just hard to come by.
comment october: baby first skyscraper. I did not know I would become the only two person in China who can set skyscraper variant. it's a heavily handcraft based variant. now that I think of it, every small detail change in the skyscraper change will be fun to play with. why is it so changable. fruit for thought for future me.
Lösungscode: row 4 and column 4(18 digits)
