Real vs Imaginary

(Eingestellt am 9. August 2021, 16:54 Uhr von kolot)

Here is a sudoku puzzle with a "fantastic" ruleset.

RULES: There are two grids, the real grid that you see and an imaginary grid behind it. Normal sudoku rules apply for both. The cells that have different digits in these two grids contain the difference between these digits as a small clue at their top left corner. The white dot separates two consecutive digits in the real grid, but it looks black and separates two digits with 1:2 ratio in the imaginary grid.

Here is a 4x4 example for clarifying the ruleset.

NOTE: You don't need to draw the imaginary grid for being able to solve this puzzle. The puzzle can be solved by just working on the real grid. Once you figure out how you should approach the puzzle, it should not be difficult.

Lösungscode: Row 9 followed by column 8.

Really excellent puzzle, although more like a mathematical riddle presented in a sudoku framework (which I personally don't mind at all). I would 100% subscribe to the note in the end.

"Once you figure out how you should approach the puzzle, it should not be difficult." But isn't drawing up and playing with the imaginary grid the best way to figure out how to approach the puzzle? As always, it's the process that matters.

The break-in is really clever.

Thanks for the comment! You are right, drawing the imaginary grid is probably helpful. What I meant is that it is not necessary.
