It's raining WHAT?

(Published on 21. July 2021, 06:25 by filuta)

This one is rather experimental, but despite that should be quite easy I think.

My big thanks to setter of beautiful chains Kafkapharnaum and ctc discord member justnigel for bravely facing the immense struggle while testing this one with (originally) quite poorly written ruleset.

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply. In addition to that:
- the gray square means even digit, the gray circle means odd digit,
- digits must increase along the thermometer starting from the bulb end.

Moreover, the clues are falling down in the following sense:
- the digit N in the bulb (circle, square) means that the same clue also appears exactly N squares below the original one, in the case of the thermometer this means that the newly appeared one must be an identical copy i.e. of the same length and orientation,
- the newly appeared clues are also subject to the rule above,
- N cannot be bigger than the number of rows below the clue (clues must be permitted to fall), unless some part of the clue is in row 9 (the clue hits the ground).

For instance, if there is 1 in the gray circle (say in r1c1), then the digit right below the circle (r2c1) also must be odd, and if that digit is 7 than the digit another seven rows below (r9c1) must be also odd. Also neither the first, nor the second circle may contain digit 9 (they would fall off the grid), the last circle, however, may contain 9 (since it is already on the ground).

Very interesting puzzle. Took a while to understand the implications of the rules enough to get started, but once I did, a very smooth and not too difficult solve.

......
Thanks for the comment, yeah, probably more in the middle between 2 and 3 stars (also originally posted as 2 stars).

That was a pleasant surprise, I really liked your Find the clues yourself puzzle and wanted to try your Wrogn one, but it felt intimidating and I ended up choosing another puzzle. But this one was fairly easy and really fun! Rated average difficulty though because of the small learning curve

oh, thank you so much, I'm happy you liked it, easy and fun was exactly my intention

Haha, indeed, a bit of a rough ride testing it with the wrong rules at first, but just pure fun afterwards! Quite simply a brilliant puzzle, like all the others I managed to solve from you!
....
Thank you.
